INTRODUCING THE PROGRAM

The California Court Association offers a certification program to enhance the professional development of members. The program is designed to meet specific needs of Association members.

PURPOSE OF THE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

To provide Association members with the opportunity to increase their knowledge and capabilities by sponsoring educational programs throughout the state, encouraging members to utilize other educational resources, and granting certification upon the successful completion of a structured program. This program is designed to benefit those at all levels of the organization.

Participants in the program will:

  • Identify the specific skills and knowledge they need to enhance their performance in their current position;
  • Develop a course of study which will provide education in these areas;
  • Improve performance in their current position, thereby becoming a more valued court employee;
  • Utilize the program as an important component of their career development plan for advancement to higher level positions;
  • Receive formal recognition from the Association for their achievements.

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE

All Association members who wish to maintain and improve their professional competency.

To receive a certificate participants must:

  • Complete courses from categories which include organizational and personnel management, communication, technical, and computer skills, and personal development.
  • Complete requirements determined in the curriculum for each of the three certification levels.
  • Choose educational courses and training from a wide variety of sources such as CCA or local court or county sponsored training, state court programs, and local college classes.
  • Complete the requirements for Level One within two (2) years, and Levels Two and Three within three (3) years.

To sign up for the program:

  • Members may begin the program at any time by submitting an application which includes a certification plan of study.
  • Members may develop the study plan with their manager, supervisor, training coordinator or court designee or on their own.
